GALVANOX II is a coating made from epoxy resins and polyamide, which provides cathodic protection to steel in a similar way to hot dip galvanizing, depositing a film containing zinc at 98.5% purity. In addition to providing protection for a long time in areas contaminated with chemicals due to its permanent neutralizing action.
The GALVANOX II coating by itself is highly resistant to solvents, petroleum, alcohols and jet gas. This zinc/organic system gives a degree of protection that is not obtainable with conventional paint systems. If the topcoat coating is damaged the high zinc content protects the steel, in conventional systems, pinpoint failures are harmful, corrosion appearing at the base of the steel, which forms rust blisters and damages the coating around the area.
In contrast to the corrosion of zinc, when the zinc is attacked in the steel a light dust is observed that does not damage the surface of the film at all. These areas can be touched up with periodic maintenance. Once the mixture is made an induction time of between 30 minutes to 1 hour should be given.
This coating is highly recommended for all types of structural steel. In chemical tanks and containers, transmission towers, port facilities, tubes and supports, platforms, trellises, transformers, mill and warehouse hoppers, floating tank tops, towers of cooling, equipment and facilities that are exposed to salinity.
